Thanksgiving 2012

Another turkey day already come and gone. I'm thinking there needs to be a Thanksgiving Day in mid-July, or somewhere around there...all the goodness that spreads across the table is devoured and then most of it not seen again until the next November. I mean, part of the 'fun' is the practically year-long anticipation but I'm all for partaking in the consumption of turkey/green bean casserole/rolls/cranberry sauce/sweet potatoes/pie/etc. more than just one time a year. Anyone wanna jump on that bandwagon with me??

But more than savoring the mouth-watering tastes of the meal, I relish in having all my boys home for a nice long weekend. We started it off with finishing our Thankful Tree....we did miss a day or two, but we still put up a lot of leaves reflecting those things/people that we are ever so grateful for and sadly, sometimes take for granted.

When is it my turn....?

"oh..here we go."

putting up the last leaf!

Ending our evening with a little Charlie Brown Thanksgiving!
On Thanksgiving morning, we have our tradition of cinnamon rolls in the morning (compliments of my fabulous hubby...they are DELISH!!) while watching the Thanksgiving Day parade; then it's a day of relaxing and just hanging out as a family.
YUUMMMMMM!!!!
parade time!
Our feast followed later in the day at mom and dad Anderson's...and we failed to capture any moments on camera! Shameful. However, we made up for it as we took our boys out for a day-long adventure in the mountains--both Andy and I went snap-happy!! It was a beautiful day to pack a lunch and do some exploring and rock climbing. I'm so thankful my adventurous boys love to be "out and about" and after this particular day, I'm pretty sure their dad has now instilled even more a bit of hunting-fever in them. :)

Antelope!!
We drove past what used to be Davey Town, Nevada. Lots of "treasures" were found here! :)

Peering in the window of an old house
We made our way up the mountain side to "the tippy top" (as Carson called it) where it became the boys' rocky-mountain-playground!

off to do some bird hunting...
they found a "rock cave" :)

my boys are in there!

The boys had hot cocoa....
Mmmmmmm :)
...and we had the coffee!

off to hunt some more with dad...
...but no luck this time.
My handsome outdoorsmen :)
It's hard to try and capture the beauty within the NV skies with a camera lens as there is simply no comparison than when you see it with your own eyes. As we made our way back down we paused to drink in the magnificent color, changing shades what seemed to be every few seconds. God's brush strokes are breathtaking. Beauty at it's finest.

Thanksgiving weekend passed by all too quickly but we have entered into my favorite season of the year--and yes, I am playing the Christmas music all the time now. :) We are still OH SO THANKFUL for all we have and I love that my boys want to take the things that they are thankful for and now use snowflakes instead of leaves on our window. We'll see what we come up with. :) As an end to our Thanksgiving weekend and to "kick-off" the merry holiday season, it's also tradition to watch The Polar Express...on the big-screen no less. So we hooked it up, made the hot cocoa and treats, and are now in the midst of putting all-things Christmas throughout the house.

Mason is 3!!!!!

I have no idea how we went from this...

2 weeks old!

                 ...to this...

...in what feels like a matter of a few heartbeats! My mini-man Mason Roger is three years old already!!! He is our tractor-loving, easy-going, usually always-smiling, van-singing, bubbly-laughing, still-likes-to-snuggle little boy! We celebrated his big day in tractor-style complete with the long anticipated blue tractor cake, his request made months ago. I can say with complete confidence that he had a pretty fantastic birthday thanks to so many family and friends who adore this little guy nearly as much as his mom and dad do! :)
It's a tractor party!!

"I'm three!"

the cousins ready for some cake!

Here it is...the "blue tractor cake"!

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY MASON ROGER!!
