Warm days...chilly nights....

As a "hunting widow" for 6 days straight it's quin essential to laugh at the little things, to pick your battles with the boys, to not fret about what didn't get accomplished but rather to be thankful what did (even if that means having 3 boys who are still alive and at least well-fed) and to also have a steady stockpile of endless craft-making tools and ideas.

(the boys making some apple prints...and just painting)

Thank goodness for the warmth of the sun these past few days as we have taken advantage of it's heated rays. The apple picking is still a delightful daily task but recently, the ladder needed to be of use in order to reach those apples on the higher branches. Good thing I have 3 great apple pickers! Now before some of you have a little panic attack...no, they did not climb the ladder. Well, at least not all the way up it. They were each allowed to climb up a few rungs in order to satisfy that thing that boys love known as "risk-taking" and adventure...they succeeded and each picked a juicy, bright, red apple among many green ones from the tree that is perfectly at their level. There are many more apples that await the picking but for now, two bagfuls is plenty in order to get some slices in the freezer and apple butter in the jars. Need I say more as to what I'll be doing this weekend?!

yummy apples!!
Where do we start?!

The nights have been on the cooler side and it's refreshing after a warm day. It's chilly on the soccer sidelines but we know that the hot cocoa will squelch that chill as soon as we arrive home. A perfect ending to these busy days. And with the pajamas on the "warmer" side, you know the ones...those soft, can't-help-but-cuddle fleece snuggly pajamas...it's a perfect way for mama to get some much needed snuggle time with her 3 sons.

mmmm...apple butter! I've never made that! You'll have to give me your recipe. Sounds like you guys are having a fun weekend while Andy is away! :-) Can't wait to smell the fall air when we get home. Love you guys!

Love the fun that is splattered throughout these pictures... let me know how the apple butter turns out... are you using the slow cooker recipe?
